El Alto, Bolivia sees gradual return to normalcy after months of blockades
Mayor Eliser Roca of El Alto said on 15 June that normal life is slowly returning, with most districts back to routine while a few small groups continue blockades. He urged rural protesters not to cut water or electricity and noted the protests caused about 2 billion bolivianos in losses.
In La Paz and El Alto, traffic has improved, vegetable prices have fallen, festivals resumed, and fuel deliveries have increased, though chicken meat remains scarce and food prices stay above pre‑blockade levels. Markets report lower carrot prices and public transport is operating more regularly.
