Bolivia’s La Paz blockades disrupt dairy plant operations and restrict oxygen deliveries

More than 40 days of road blockades in La Paz and Cochabamba, led by the Federación Departamental Única de Trabajadores Campesinos Túpac Katari, have intensified political pressure on President Rodrigo Paz.

The PIL Andina dairy plant remains shut down, with the company confirming production losses across the milk‑supply chain but denying any announcement of leaving La Paz. Executives said the priority is to keep food distribution where possible while the situation stays unresolved.

After 44 days of protests, the federation issued an instruction allowing ambulances, medical personnel, and oxygen tanks to pass the blockades. Hospitals in La Paz report critical shortages of medical oxygen, forcing rationing of the life‑saving gas for patients at the Hospital del Niño and the Hospital de la Mujer.
