Bolivia's regional leaders push for more funding for oil tax revenues and bridge projects

Mayor Johnny Torres of Tarija is urging the national government to return the 12% share of the hydrocarbon tax (IDH) to municipalities, arguing that the funds should come from the national treasury rather than external credit. He said, "Nosotros seguimos insistiendo en que el plan de la recuperación del 12% es un plan en lo inmediato," and called for a political will to meet urgent municipal needs. The mayor also highlighted the ongoing Trinational tourism corridor initiative involving Bolivia, Argentina and Chile.

Separately, the governors of Potosí (René Joaquino Cabrera) and Chuquisaca (Luis Edson Ayllón) agreed to prioritize financing for two bridge projects that will cost roughly 60 million bolivianos. They plan to seek resources, including possible international loans, and will incorporate the projects into departmental and municipal budgets to improve road integration and stimulate the regional economy.
