Bolivia's Santa Cruz leader Zambrana urges court to summon Evo Morales over blockade deaths

Agustín Zambrana, vice‑president of the Pro Santa Cruz Civic Committee, called on Bolivian justice to summon former president Evo Morales and Central Workers’ Union leader Mario Argollo to answer for the 22 deaths that occurred during the 53‑day blockades. He said, “Esperamos que la justicia boliviana no tenga miedo y que haga lo que todos sabemos que debe hacer, que es convocar al señor Evo Morales, al señor Argollo, para que respondan por las 22 muertes que hay.” Zambrana highlighted that among the victims were three minors, seriously ill patients, transporters and a foreign citizen, and warned of a risk of flight or obstruction if Argollo were not called.

He urged the prosecutor to present the evidence it announced and demanded that the process proceed without political considerations, insisting that individual responsibility be established for the protests that caused economic losses and casualties.
