Bolivia's Tropic of Cochabamba cocaleros declare intermediate road blockade amid Evo Morales dispute

The Coordinadora de las Seis Federaciones del Trópico de Cochabamba announced a "fourth intermediate" phase of road blockades, accusing leaders of the Central Obrera Boliviana and the Túpac Katari peasant federation of betraying the movement. Executive secretary Isidro Auca said the pause aims to allow social sectors to reorganize, emphasizing the struggle will continue. Police and armed forces lifted some blockades after a state of exception was declared, but the region remains a focal point for protest activity.

Bolivia's Defense Minister Ernesto Justiniano Urenda criticised the continued closure of Chimoré airport, arguing that a strategic infrastructure should not be conditioned by the legal case against former president Evo Morales. He called for a renewal of leadership within the six federations and stressed the airport's importance for the Tropic's economic development, stating, "No puede ser que estemos condicionando un aeropuerto funcional como Chimoré a un acuerdo de que no lo van a agarrar a Evo Morales."
