Bolivia's YPFB drops appeal in Tarija, seeks dialogue for Tariquía gas project
Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) formally withdrew the restricted appeal it had filed in the criminal case against community members from Entre Ríos municipality in Tarija, confirming the court's acquittal. The move was presented to the Second Criminal Chamber of the Tarija Departmental Court of Justice as part of a strategy to prioritize dialogue and negotiated agreements with the affected communities.
YPFB executive Sebastián Daroca Oller said the withdrawal is not a sign of weakness but reflects a commitment to resolve the dispute through extrajudicial settlement and technical working groups. The company plans to file the final case archive and convene institutions and community representatives to establish tables of technical discussion, aiming to advance the Tariquía gas exploration project while preserving local interests and natural resources.
