Bolivia's YPFB moves to normalize diesel supply after 50‑day blockades

Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) began expanding fuel distribution in La Paz and other departments after more than 50 days of road blockades. President Sebastián Daroca said quality checks are being performed on over 200 cisterns that were held during the blockades and that 3.8 million litres of gasoline and diesel were dispatched, with a target of 2.8 million litres of gasoline and 1 million litres of diesel for La Paz and El Alto.

The state oil firm is also processing more than 1,600 cisterns trapped by the protests, routing diesel from Arica and gasoline from Puerto Suárez to the supply plants. Daroca urged the public to be patient, stressed that fuel prices will not rise, and announced an “over‑supply” strategy to refill stations quickly.

Despite the renewed shipments, heavy‑vehicle transport operators in Tarija and other regions report persistent diesel shortages, long queues at stations, and some trucks sleeping at the pumps. They criticize YPFB for not meeting promised volumes, while the company attributes the backlog to logistics after the blockades rather than debt issues.
