Bollate prison inmates release rap album ‘30 OP’

Inmates at the Bollate prison in Milan have released a rap album titled ‘30 OP’, produced and recorded within the facility’s recording studio. The project, consisting of thirteen tracks, was developed through an artistic-musical rap workshop active since 2022 in the Young Adult Department.

The album title references Article 30 of the penitentiary regulations regarding necessity permits, but reinterprets the acronym as ‘opportunity’—specifically the opportunity to gain skills, take responsibility, and share personal experiences. The music serves as a tool for growth and social redemption, addressing themes of personal consequences, solitude, and the reality of detention rather than glorifying a ‘gangster’ lifestyle.

The project was presented during the ‘Bollate Live Show’ on September 23, featuring guest performances by artists Ensi, Nitro, Nerone, and Mic Tyson. The initiative was organized and funded by Me Next Agency with support from Cooperativa Articolo 3. The album is released via Attitude Recordz and distributed by Altafonte Italia.
