Bolloré to end Bluebus electric bus production in France
The Bolloré Group has announced the permanent cessation of electric bus production at its Bluebus site in Ergué-Gabéric, France. The decision, communicated to employees in September 2026, is driven by a less dynamic French market than expected, intense competition, and significant price pressure. The company stated it lacks the necessary scale to compete effectively with other industry players.
The restructuring involves two job protection plans affecting a total of 115 positions: 74 jobs at Bluebus and 41 at its sister company, Blue Solutions, which specializes in lithium-metal-polymer (LMP) batteries.
While production is ending, Bolloré is exploring a partial asset takeover with a European industrial company, potentially focusing on research and development. A reduced organization will be maintained to provide after-sales service for the approximately 700 Bluebus vehicles currently operating across France and Europe. Major clients, such as Ile-de-France Mobilités, have expressed a need for guarantees regarding the continued maintenance of their existing fleets.
