Awarapan 2 leads advance bookings in box office clash with Batwara 1947

The Indian film industry is seeing a major box office clash this Independence Day weekend as two highly anticipated films, ‘Awarapan 2’ and ‘Batwara 1947’, compete for viewership.

Advance booking data indicates that Emraan Hashmi’s romantic-crime thriller ‘Awarapan 2’ is currently leading the race. Reports show the film has secured approximately ₹9.68 crore in pre-sales with over 332,000 tickets sold, maintaining an average occupancy of 16.5%. Major contributors to these collections include Maharashtra and Delhi.

In contrast, Sunny Deol’s period drama ‘Batwara 1947’ is trailing in pre-sales. The film has recorded approximately ₹3.48 crore in tracked gross from roughly 128,000 tickets. While its advance occupancy sits at 6.8%, industry experts suggest the film may see higher numbers through on-the-spot bookings in mass-market regions on release day.

Other notable releases scheduled for the August 14 weekend include Suriya’s ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ and Vishal’s action drama ‘Magudam/Makutam’.
