Bologna begins transformation of asphalt courtyards into green spaces

Construction has begun in Bologna's Bolognina district to transform asphalted courtyards within public housing complexes into green, inclusive public spaces. The project targets courtyards ERP 5 and 6, located between via Albani and via Zampieri.

Funded by the National METRO Plus and Città Medie Sud 2021-2027 program, the initiative aims to improve environmental sustainability and urban climate adaptation through desigillation. The redevelopment will replace impermeable surfaces with green areas and drainage-friendly paving, adding pedestrian paths, shaded seating, and play areas to enhance social interaction and quality of life for residents.
