Bologna civic and ecological movements emerge to challenge current administration
New political and civic movements are emerging in Bologna to challenge the current Lepore administration ahead of the 2027 municipal elections.
The civic list ‘Uniti per Bologna’ recently held an information event in Piazza del Nettuno to engage with citizens. The movement describes itself as non-partisan, stating they are neither right nor left, but focused on local administrative issues and direct engagement with residents. Organizers noted that while many attendees identified as left-wing, they also encountered citizens who previously supported center-right parties.
Simultaneously, the association ‘Bologna Respira’ has been officially presented as an ecological alternative for the city. Led by President Andrea Barone and former provincial Green spokesperson Danny Labriola, the group criticizes recent city policies as contradictory. Their platform emphasizes cleaner air, healthier food, increased civic participation, and a more livable urban environment, positioning themselves as a response to perceived failures in local environmental and democratic governance.
