Bologna councilor Detjon Begaj triggers Carabinieri probe over Facebook comments

(Adnkronos) – Detjon Begaj, a city councilor for the Coalition Civica in Bologna, posted on Facebook about the death of Abderrahim Fakir and reported that a Carabinieri officer repeatedly commented with phrases such as “uno di meno”, references to the “Duce”, and an ambiguous message to a woman.

Begaj identified the commenter as a Brigadier‑Officer‑Cavaliere of the Bologna Carabinieri, noting that the officer had previously hosted Monsignor Zuppi for Christmas radio greetings. He questioned whether such behaviour is compatible with the honour, prestige and values of the armed force.

The Carabinieri command in Bologna stated it is carrying out “the appropriate investigations” and will evaluate the officer’s conduct “with maximum rigor”.
