Bologna man reported for leaving dog without food or water for three days

A 26-year-old man in Bologna has been reported for animal maltreatment after leaving his dog, a husky-mix named Ares, alone in an apartment for approximately three days without food or water.

The incident was reported to the local police by residents of a building in the San Donato-San Vitale district, who were alerted by the animal's constant howling and barking. Upon investigation by the Navile patrol, officers found the dog in a state of evident suffering.

Veterinary staff from the AUSL inspected the premises and confirmed a severe lack of hygienic conditions and the total absence of food and water. Following authorization from the Public Prosecutor, the dog was seized and transferred to the Castel Maggiore kennel for medical care. The owner, who was reportedly out of town at the time, faces legal charges.
