Bologna massacre families urge focus on truth during 46th‑anniversary commemoration

At the 46th anniversary of the 1980 Bologna railway station bombing, Paolo Lambertini, president of the Association of Victims' Families, appealed to attendees to keep the focus on uncovering the truth about the attack. He warned against diverting attention to unrelated issues and stressed the need for a civil, composed demonstration. Lambertini joined officials at Villa Torchi for a ceremony honoring the child victims, where Horst Mäder, father of two German children killed in the blast, paid tribute.

Senate President Ignazio La Russa used the occasion to reiterate the final judicial ruling that attributes responsibility for the bombing to a "matrice fascista". In a Facebook post he wrote: "On the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the Bologna massacre we renew a heartfelt homage to the victims and their families. It is essential to remember that the judicial truth has definitively assigned responsibility to the 'fascist matrix' and to continue the search for full truth." Other politicians, including members of Lega and Forza Italia, also referenced the neofascist nature of the attack during the ceremony.
