Bologna Mayor announces support program for families and students

Bologna Mayor Matteo Lepore has unveiled the ‘Bologna ti sostiene’ initiative, a program designed to provide financial relief to families facing economic hardship. Key components of the plan include the establishment of a microcredit fund worth millions of euros and the introduction of subsidies for grocery shopping.

The proposal also addresses mobility and education, offering a 50% reduction in parking fees for blue zone spaces, further discounts for public transport, and an annual allocation of one million euros to support students.

Reflecting on previous policies, Lepore noted that the recent increase in bus fares from 1.50 to 2.30 euros has yielded results. He also offered a self-critique regarding the ‘Città 30’ traffic scheme, stating that while it has helped save lives, the measure required better communication and explanation to the public.
