Bologna Mayor proposes halving monthly parking subscription costs

Bologna Mayor Matteo Lepore has proposed halving the cost of monthly parking subscriptions to address the impact of significant price hikes implemented in May 2025. The proposal aims to support motorists, particularly those whose employers do not subsidize commuting costs.

Following previous increases, parking rates in the city center rose by over 60%, while semi-peripheral areas saw a 50% increase. Monthly subscriptions in the historic center and Cerchia del Mille previously rose from 70 to 100 euros. The mayor's suggestion has sparked political debate, with some supporting the move and others criticizing it as an electoral tactic.
