Abruzzo funds 82 projects to support active aging for seniors

The Abruzzo Region has announced the funding of 82 projects aimed at supporting active aging for citizens over 65. Supported by 3.8 million euros from the European Social Fund (FSE), these initiatives focus on promoting well-being, social inclusion, and quality of life. The projects are distributed across the region, with 25 in Chieti and 19 each in L’Aquila, Teramo, and Pescara. Social policies assessor Roberto Santangelo noted that the high participation rate from volunteer organizations underscores the importance of addressing the needs of the elderly population.

In other regional developments, San Michele Salentino has received over 42,000 euros from the Puglia Region to enhance waste management through the installation of smart ecological islands. These stations will feature 24-hour access via digital identification and solar power. Meanwhile, in Calabria, approximately 2.35 million euros in unused funds for non-self-sufficient individuals have been recovered to support families dealing with severe disabilities.

In Milan, the municipal government has adopted an implementation plan for the regeneration of the former Macello area, transforming it into a sustainable district for youth featuring affordable housing, green spaces, and schools. Additionally, the city has approved a nearly 30 million euro plan for educational rights, specifically increasing funds for students with disabilities.
