Bologna police detain thieves and robbers in series of July incidents

Local police in Bologna arrested three women after they were caught stealing clothing worth over €580 from a major retailer on Via Indipendenza and nearby stores. The items, some bearing damage from forced anti‑theft devices, were recovered and returned to the merchants. The two adult women and a minor were released pending investigation, with the minor placed under her father's care.

Separately, the Carabinieri’s Nucleo Operativo Bologna Centro arrested nine suspects linked to three violent robberies that occurred between March and April. A 21‑year‑old Italian lost a gold necklace to a 19‑year‑old Tunisian; a 51‑year‑old man was robbed of a credit‑card by three Tunisian youths, two of whom received daily signature obligations; and a 44‑year‑old Italian was threatened with a bottle and robbed of a smartphone by five Nigerian men, two of whom were placed in custody.

These operations highlight a coordinated crackdown on a wave of theft and robbery in the city.
