Bologna police rescue 23-year-old kidnapped for ransom

Police in Bologna have rescued a 23-year-old industrial worker who was kidnapped and held hostage in an isolated farmhouse in San Lazzaro di Savena. The victim was reportedly abducted from his workplace, bound with zip ties, and beaten, including with the handle of a machete.

Investigators believe the kidnapping was motivated by a debt of approximately 16,500 euros related to drug trafficking. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 26,000 euros, to be delivered in a backpack in an open field. During the ransom exchange attempt, the Squadra Mobile intercepted the group, locating the victim while he was being transported in a vehicle.

Three individuals have been arrested: a 23-year-old Moldovan national, a 20-year-old Italian, and a minor. The victim sustained injuries requiring approximately 31 days of recovery. The Bologna Prosecutor's Office is currently investigating the full context of the crime, focusing on potential links to narcotics trafficking.
