Bolshoi School Brazil selects new dancers for 2027 program

Isabella Batista da Cruz, a student from Anápolis, Goiás, is among the 40 children selected in the National Selection for the Bolshoi Theatre School in Brazil. The selection process, held in Joinville, evaluated 1,759 candidates through physical, medical, artistic, musical, and cognitive assessments.

Successful candidates will begin an eight-year classical dance training program in February 2027. The school provides full scholarships that cover technical education, meals, transportation, uniforms, social assistance, pedagogical guidance, and comprehensive health services, including dental, physiotherapy, and nutritional support.

In a related discussion regarding high-performance ballet, a systematic review published in BMJ Open Sport & Exercise Medicine highlighted the need for better training load monitoring. The study noted that 90% of existing research relies solely on activity duration, which fails to capture training intensity. Experts emphasize the importance of balancing rigorous discipline with mental well-being and physical health for young dancers.
