Bolt Graphics seeks $100 million in funding to challenge Nvidia and AMD

Silicon Valley-based semiconductor startup Bolt Graphics is seeking to raise approximately $100 million at a valuation of roughly $700 million. The company aims to compete with industry leaders Nvidia and AMD by focusing on niche professional computing markets rather than the broader AI hardware sector.

Bolt Graphics is developing its flagship Zeus GPU architecture, which is designed for high-precision tasks such as scientific computing, chip design, and professional 3D rendering. The company claims its path-tracing performance can be ten times faster than top-tier consumer GPUs.

To support its production goals, Bolt Graphics has established an office in Taipei to facilitate close collaboration with its manufacturing partner, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). The company has completed design verification for a 6mm test chip and plans to launch a commercial 400mm version, with mass production expected in the fourth quarter of 2027 and commercial shipments starting in 2028.
