Bolt launches scholarship for female informatics students at University of Tartu

Technology company Bolt is launching a technology talent scholarship through the University of Tartu Foundation to support female undergraduate informatics students. The initiative aims to increase female representation in the information and communication technology sector and foster professional growth.

Two scholarships of 2,500 euros each will be awarded annually. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate an interest in IT and informatics, have clearly defined goals, and maintain a minimum grade point average of 4.0. For first-year students, entrance exam results will be considered. Applications must be submitted via the University of Tartu Foundation website by September 15, with winners announced on October 1 during the Institute of Computer Science day.

Marina Lepp, head of the Institute of Computer Science, noted that while female participation has increased in interdisciplinary master's programs like data science and artificial intelligence, there is still room for growth in undergraduate informatics, where women made up 32% of candidates this year. Kadi Poll, Bolt's employer branding manager, emphasized that diverse teams lead to better solutions and that the scholarship aims to encourage young women to view informatics as a viable career path.
