Bolu journalists health workers press freedom verbal abuse

In Bolu, Turkey, health workers reportedly directed verbal insults at journalists who were documenting a bicycle accident involving two children. The incident occurred in the Çıkınlar neighborhood after two children lost balance while riding an electric bicycle, resulting in one child sustaining a leg injury.

Witnesses and reports indicate that as journalists attempted to film the scene in a public area, medical personnel used derogatory language, including asking, ‘Is this a circus?’ and ‘Are we talking to a donkey?’ Despite journalists presenting their press cards, the hostile behavior continued. The injured child was subsequently transported to İzzet Baysal Training and Research Hospital.

Mémet Ali Atalay, President of the Bolu Journalists and Writers Association, condemned the actions. He stated that while human health is the priority, journalists also provide a public service and should not be subjected to such insults while performing their duties.
