Bolu hosts Turkey’s first Forest School for nature-based learning

Turkey’s first Forest School has opened in Bolu, marking a new educational model focused on nature-based, experiential learning. Located on a 30-decare site along the Bolu-Abant road, the project was launched by the General Directorate of Forestry.

The school is designed for children aged 4 to 12 and features seven specialized workshops: Design, Soil, Insect Hotel, Observation Point, Ecosystem, Forestry, and Forest Protection. These stations allow students to engage directly with the environment, such as observing insect life cycles or learning about forest fire prevention methods through models.

Operating under the motto “Discover, Experience, Share,” the facility aims to foster environmental awareness, responsibility, and a love for nature. The school is scheduled to host approximately 40 students daily during the 2026-2027 academic year, providing hands-on education guided by subject matter experts.
