Bolu insecticide spraying leaves three people hospitalized
Three people were hospitalized in Bolu, Turkey, after being affected by the smell of insecticide following a mosquito spraying operation in the Karamanlı neighborhood.
The incident occurred around 01:00 on Işıklı Street. A 76-year-old woman, S. U., who suffers from asthma and bronchitis, experienced severe breathing difficulties after the spraying. When medical teams arrived at the apartment to provide assistance, two health workers also became ill due to the strong odor of the insecticide within the building.
Emergency responders, including police, firefighters, and AFAD teams, were dispatched to the scene. The woman and the two medical workers were transported to the Bolu İzzet Baysal State Hospital Köroğlu Unit for medical tests and treatment. While AFAD conducted an investigation in the residence, initial findings reported no immediate negative chemical findings, though the victim's daughter noted that windows were open during the routine nightly spraying, which likely exacerbated the inhalation of the fumes.
