Bolu Municipality faces scrutiny over tender discrepancies and waste fees
Bolu Municipality is facing dual challenges regarding its financial and administrative practices. An expert report prepared as part of an investigation by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has revealed significant price discrepancies in municipal tenders for clothing and pest control services.
The 52-page report highlights millions of liras in differences between various tender prices. Specifically, a comparison of clothing procurement in 2024 showed a difference of over 4.2 million TL compared to another tender, with total public losses estimated at approximately 5.1 million TL including VAT. The report also evaluates the oversight responsibilities of Deputy Mayor Rasim Özdemir.
Separately, representatives from various private educational institutions in Bolu have issued a press statement protesting high solid waste disposal fees. The educators argue that the municipality calculates fees based on maximum capacity set by the Ministry of National Education rather than the actual number of students present. They noted that these costs are significantly higher than those in neighboring Düzce and have requested a review of the matter during the Bolu Municipal Council meeting on November 3.
