Bolu Municipality subsidiary faces indictment for embezzlement and tender fraud

A 55-page indictment has been accepted by the Bolu 3rd High Criminal Court regarding alleged corruption and tender fraud at BOL TUR AŞ, a subsidiary of the Bolu Municipality. The investigation, which was deepened by a report from the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), involves 14 defendants, including two currently in custody.

Key allegations include the misappropriation of public funds through irregular food parcel tenders. In one instance, documentation reportedly claimed 15,000 dry food boxes were delivered when only 12,000 were actually received. Prosecutors allege that the funds for the missing 3,000 boxes were diverted to the personal account of Özgür Nihat Yıldız, the Bolu Municipality Private Secretary and Chairman of the BOL TUR AŞ Board.

Other allegations involve Mustafa Altındal, President of the Bolu Greengrocers and Market Traders Chamber, who reportedly received a payment of 7,042,000 Turkish Liras in March 2024. Additionally, the indictment details irregularities regarding vehicle rentals, where Yıldız allegedly leased his own luxury vehicle to the company, and claims of bribery related to the transfer of municipal business premises. The total estimated public loss is 1,110,979 Turkish Liras.
