Bolu opens hemodialysis center named after fire victim
The Eczacı Rümeysa Gültekin Hemodialysis Center has officially opened at the Bolu İzzet Baysal State Hospital Köroğlu Unit. The facility was established by lawyer Yüksel Gültekin through the Asır Grup Foundation to honor the memory of his daughter, pharmacist Rümeysa Gültekin.
Gültekin, who lost eight family members in the Grand Kartal Hotel fire on January 21, 2025—a tragedy that claimed 78 lives—stated that he intends to continue creating memorial works to keep his children’s memories alive.
Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu attended the opening ceremony, using the occasion to emphasize that such tragedies are human-caused accidents rather than natural disasters. He also highlighted ongoing health infrastructure developments in Bolu, including a 300-bed building for the İzzet Baysal Training and Research Hospital and additional facilities for a state hospital.
