Bolívar State reports two fatal accidents in plane crash and mine collapse
Two separate fatal incidents were reported in Bolívar State, Venezuela, over the weekend.
In Santa Elena de Uairén, a small aircraft crashed into vegetation shortly after departing from the local airport. The crash resulted in the deaths of Captain Gilberto Bruzual and aviation mechanic Luis Cabriles. Preliminary investigations suggest the aircraft experienced operational failures shortly after takeoff. The Civil Aviation Accident Investigation Board (JIAAC) is conducting a technical evaluation to determine if the cause was mechanical failure, adverse weather, or human error.
In El Callao, a mine collapse at the El Tobogán gold mine killed two miners, identified as 29-year-old Neiker Urbano and 23-year-old Jesús Guerra. The victims were working in a subterranean gallery approximately 26 meters deep when a wall collapsed. Emergency responders recovered the bodies through interconnected underground passages. Authorities are investigating the ground conditions at the time of the collapse.
