Bolzano Court to resume full operations at new site in October

The Bolzano Court is scheduled to resume full operations at the Alto Adige 50 premises starting October 1. This move follows the partial collapse of the city’s historic courthouse on July 16, 2026.

The new site is being prepared to accommodate approximately 160 staff members. Facilities include areas for the prison police and detainees, registry offices, and five courtrooms designed to replicate the layout of the previous building. Additionally, a property on Via Stazione has been identified to handle linguistic affiliation declarations.

The regional government of Trentino-South Tyrol and the Province of Bolzano have reached an agreement to manage the organization and costs of these temporary locations. Regional President Arno Kompatscher noted that the rapid solution was made possible through the region’s autonomous powers regarding judicial administration. While criminal case files have been successfully recovered, some sections of the historical archives remain inaccessible due to damage from the collapse.
