Bomb attack damages industrial plant in Popayán, Colombia
On the night of 25 July, an explosive device was thrown at a beverage distribution plant owned by Postobón in the city of Popayán, Cauca Department. Two men on a motorcycle are suspected of launching the bomb and fleeing the scene. The blast caused material damage to the facility but resulted in no injuries or fatalities.
Police cordoned the area, deployed bomb‑disposal units and began a forensic investigation. Authorities recovered pamphlets bearing the name of the Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN), which are being examined to verify any link to the attack. The investigation is being led by the Fiscalía General de la Nación with support from local security agencies. The incident has heightened tension in the region but, so far, the authorship remains unconfirmed.
