Vitez cafe bomb and burned Golf II in Novi Travnik under police investigation

Police in the Srednjobosanska Canton are investigating two serious crimes that occurred on the night of 6–7 August 2026. At about 02:10 local time a bomb was thrown into the City café on Kulina Bana street in Vitez, shattering glass and causing material damage. The incident was reported by an unknown female caller and the crime scene was handed over to the cantonal prosecutor’s office for further investigation.

Later that morning, at 08:55 a resident of Novi Travnik reported that his Golf II had been stolen from a garage in Rankovići. Police located the vehicle at 11:08 on the Bučička Ravan field, where it had been set on fire. The theft and arson were also reported to the cantonal prosecutor, and investigators are now examining whether the two offences are linked.

No injuries were reported in either incident. The police have authorized criminal‑investigation units to collect evidence and will continue to determine any causal relationship between the café bombing and the burned vehicle.
