Bombardier acquires Mitsubishi aerospace plant in Ontario

Bombardier Inc. has announced the acquisition of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Canada Aerospace (MHICA) assets located in Mississauga, Ontario. While the purchase price was not disclosed, the deal involves a 270,000 square-foot plant that specializes in wing assembly, fuselage, and flight control installations.

Through this acquisition, approximately 750 Mitsubishi employees will join Bombardier’s workforce. The move is intended to bring previously outsourced operations in-house, strengthening Bombardier’s manufacturing capacity and supply chain resilience to support its business jet programs.

David Murray, Bombardier’s executive vice-president of manufacturing, stated that the agreement is a key step in the company’s long-term growth strategy amid rising demand. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will provide transitional support to ensure operational continuity and a smooth transfer of activities. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close later this year.
