Bombay High Court dismisses NEET re‑test petitions, fines four candidates

The Bombay High Court in Aurangabad rejected four petitions that challenged the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) re‑test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The bench, comprising Justices N. B. Suryawanshi and A. D. Shinde, examined the original answer sheets in sealed envelopes and found the marks awarded matched the answer sheets, concluding there were no discrepancies.

Each petitioner was ordered to pay a penalty of Rs 5,000 for filing unsubstantiated claims. Two of the petitioners withdrew their pleas during the hearing. Deputy Solicitor General of India Ajay Talhar, representing the central government and the NTA, highlighted the documents confirming the integrity of the evaluation process.

The decision reaffirms the validity of the NEET re‑test results and underscores the court’s stance against baseless challenges to examination outcomes.
