Bombay High Court warns Goa officials of contempt over animal data
The Bombay High Court has issued a warning of contempt proceedings against local authorities in Goa for failing to comply with previous orders regarding animal data collection. The warning targets panchayat secretaries, municipal chief officers, and the Commissioner of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP).
The court noted a failure to submit required ward-wise data on stray dogs, including information on gender and sterilization status, as well as data on pet dogs. Local bodies have been directed to compile these reports and submit them to the Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services by October 22. The court also requested details on steps taken to promote pet sterilization and vaccination awareness.
