Bombeiros do Futuro project conducts drug prevention and environmental activities in Brazil

The Bombeiros do Futuro (Future Firefighters) social project in Brazil has implemented diverse educational initiatives for children aged 8 to 12. In Cuiabá, the Mato Grosso State Secretariat of Justice (Sejus), through its Drug Policy Management (GPD) and in partnership with the Military Fire Brigade, conducted drug prevention workshops on October 19 and 21.

These workshops utilized interactive storytelling, specifically the tale ‘O Segredo que não cabia na mochila’, to teach children how to recognize suspicious offers, handle pressure, and identify trusted adults for help. The program aims to strengthen trust and provide age-appropriate dialogue regarding risk situations.

In Alta Floresta, the project also focused on environmental education. Participants, including a group of at least 20 children, participated in a tree-planting activity in a Permanent Preservation Area in the Almeida Prado neighborhood. The activity involved planting native seedlings that the children had previously nurtured from seeds provided months earlier.
