On 2 August 2026 a suicide bomber detonated explosives at the main gate of the Kabal police station in the Swat Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, during a public rally against militants. The blast killed at least 14 people – five police officers and eight civilians – and wounded at least 18 others. The 14th victim is believed to be the bomber himself. Investigators identified the attacker as an Afghan national; the outlawed group Fitna al‑Khawarij, linked to the banned Tehreek‑e‑Taliban, claimed responsibility. Pakistani authorities launched an operation to arrest anyone who may have facilitated the attack.
