Bon dance festivals attract thousands in Tokyo and Nagoya

East Tachikawa Park in Tachikawa, Tokyo hosted a three‑day Bon dance festival from July 10‑12. Organisers featured around 29 songs each night, including local tunes such as the "Tachikawa song" and other traditional and modern pieces. The event offered child‑focused sessions, food stalls, and continued even in rain.

In Nagoya, the Meieki Parklet on the former Meitetsu Lejark site held a one‑night Bon dance on July 10. About 2,000 participants, including salaried workers and families, enjoyed 35 songs such as the "Coal Mine Song" and other regional dances.
