Bon Dance festivals set for August 2026 in Tokyo’s Kabukicho and Yamaguchi’s Nagato Yumoto

Two large summer Bon Dance events are scheduled for August 2026 in Japan. In Tokyo’s Kabukicho district, the Kabukicho BON ODORI will take place on August 14‑15 at the Cinecity Plaza and Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, featuring traditional dances, a “Bon DANCE” segment, drumming performances by Tokyo Otome Taiko, and guest acts such as the Blue Man Group and comedian Razor Ram RG. The event is organized by the Kabukicho Merchants’ Association with support from Shinjuku Ward.

In Yamaguchi Prefecture, the Nagato Yumoto Onsen Bon Dance Festival will be held on August 11 in the Nagato Yumoto hot‑spring town. The program includes Bon dancing, lantern‑flow rituals, and a fireworks display, coordinated by the Yumoto Town Development Council and the Yumoto Onsen Summer Festival Committee.
