Bon Odori Festival celebrates Japanese culture in Salvador

The 18th edition of the Bon Odori Japanese Culture Festival is taking place at the Parque de Exposições in Salvador, running from September 4 to September 7. The event features a diverse program including traditional and contemporary Japanese music, dance, martial arts, cosplay, gastronomy, and anime.

International highlights include J-rock singer Nanase Aikawa. The festival also features appearances by actress and voice actress Bianca Alencar and content creator Henrique Marangon. For social accessibility, attendees can purchase discounted tickets by donating 1 kg of non-perishable food to the Bahia Sem Fome program.

In conjunction with the festivities, the Salvador City Hall, through its Secretariat of Sustainability, Resilience, Well-being, and Animal Protection (Secis), is hosting an initiative focused on the circular economy. The municipal stand offers workshops on composting, recycling, and the production of soap from residual dendê oil, while also distributing native Atlantic Forest seedlings and biofertilizers.
