Bonafarm Group cuts electricity and water use at Hungarian food plants amid heat wave

Hungary's Bonafarm Group, a leading agrifood conglomerate, announced a set of energy‑ and water‑saving actions to cope with the current heat‑driven energy strain. During peak periods the company will limit the power consumption of its cooling warehouses used for production and storage, postpone trial runs of ongoing investment projects, and suspend the operation of electric boilers.

High‑energy processes are being shifted to nighttime hours and the extensive irrigation systems on its farms will operate only outside the peak period. The group said the measures do not jeopardise food production. Bonafarm, which includes Pick Szeged, Sole‑Mizo, Hungerit, MCS Vágóhíd and other subsidiaries, reported a previous year revenue of 580 billion forints but has not yet quantified the total electricity and water savings.

The steps are intended to reduce load on the national grid while maintaining food‑safety standards.
