Bonbon the white-tailed sea eagle recovered after four days

A white-tailed sea eagle named Bonbon has been successfully recovered after being missing for four days. The eagle, a six-year-old female with a wingspan of approximately 2.5 meters, initially flew away from an annual falconry gathering at Monte Nerone in Apecchio.

During the search, tracking efforts were complicated when the bird's GPS battery died and its additional radio transmitter was removed by the bird itself. After several days of uncertainty, the eagle was located in Gubbio, Umbria, where she was spotted by a local resident and subsequently returned to her handler, Gianluigi Mandolesi.
