Australian property auctions show buyer's market in Sydney and Melbourne

Recent property auctions in Sydney and Melbourne indicate a continuing buyer's market, with clearance rates and pricing reflecting recent economic shifts. In Sydney, a preliminary auction clearance rate was recorded at 54 per cent, which is four points higher than the previous week following the Reserve Bank's decision to hold interest rates. A five-bedroom house in Abbotsford sold for $3.5 million after post-auction negotiations, a figure lower than its estimated value of $3.8 million earlier this year.

In Bondi, a three-bedroom semi-detached home sold for $3.5 million when a local family was the only active bidder. Meanwhile, in Melbourne, a Victorian-style house in Brunswick East sold for $1,505,000, exceeding its reserve. Other notable sales included a property in Williamstown that sold for $985,000, surpassing its $900,000 reserve.
