Bondoukou community initiatives support students and sanitation

In Bondoukou, Côte d'Ivoire, community initiatives are addressing local needs following recent hardships. Mory Kamagaté, a treasury official, donated school kits to merchants affected by a major market fire that occurred in July 2026. The fire impacted 779 families and their 2,040 students. This effort was supported by Soumahoro Farikou, the deputy-mayor of Adjamé, to ensure children could return to school despite the loss of livelihoods.

Additionally, the Kamagaya neighborhood won the first prize in a sanitation challenge organized by the Rotary Club Bondoukou. To promote cleanliness and public health, the winning district received a tricycle for waste collection. The initiative, held on World Cleanup Day, also included the distribution of sanitation kits to other participating neighborhoods and 100 recycled bins donated by Almamy Ouattara.
