Bondy: 11-month-old infant found dead in bucket of bleach
An 11-month-old infant died after drowning in a bucket containing water and bleach at a family apartment in Bondy, Seine-Saint-Denis, on Monday, September 7, 2026.
The child's father discovered the infant with its head submerged in the container in the kitchen. Although emergency services arrived quickly and attempted resuscitation, the child was pronounced dead at the scene following cardiac arrest. The father was transported to a hospital in a state of shock.
Preliminary reports indicate that both parents were present in the home at the time of the incident and were reportedly occupied with their mobile phones. An investigation has been opened by the Seine-Saint-Denis territorial security service to determine the exact circumstances of the death. The infant's body has been transferred to the Institut médico-légal for autopsy.
