Bone authorities investigate subsidized fertilizer misuse and corruption
Authorities in Bone, South Sulawesi, are investigating the alleged misuse of approximately 600 sacks of subsidized fertilizer. Police have reportedly named two suspects, including a driver identified as SN and an individual identified as UM. Local agricultural officials suggest that much of the seized fertilizer may have originated from the Kahu district. In response, the Bone Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) plans to summon all subsidized fertilizer retailers and distributors to clarify distribution practices.
Separately, the South Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office has launched investigations into two major corruption cases. The first involves an alleged agricultural machinery mafia involving Ministry of Agriculture projects valued at approximately Rp243.6 billion between 2024 and 2025. Investigators have identified potential data manipulation regarding recipient farmer groups.
The second investigation concerns the alleged corruption of the Bone DPRD's Pokok-pokok Pikiran (Pokir) program for the 2024-2025 period. Prosecutors allege that certain programs were improperly inserted into the regional budget, which reportedly prevented the payment of crucial funds, including Rp37 billion intended for teacher holiday bonuses (THR), civil servant allowances, and health insurance for low-income citizens.
