Boney M receives Grand Prix at Nišvil festival in Serbia
The musical group Boney M headlined the Nišvil jazz festival in Niš, Serbia, celebrating 50 years since the release of their first album. During the event, the group received the Grand Prix of the Šaban Bajramović festival for their successful fusion of jazz and disco sounds.
Zaklina Bajramović, daughter of the legendary singer Šaban Bajramović, presented the award to Liz Mitchell, the sole remaining member of the original Boney M lineup. The award also serves as a posthumous tribute to the group’s founder and producer, Frank Farian. In her speech, Bajramović noted that her father believed music transcends borders, languages, and human differences, a sentiment she felt was reflected in the group’s enduring global impact.
