Bonghwa County and Vietnamese Delegates Advance Joint Lê Dynasty Cultural Projects
On 28‑29 May, a delegation of eight cultural officials from Ho Chi Minh City met with Bonghwa County officials, including Mayor Choi Ki‑young, at the county office. The talks focused on creating joint cultural‑arts content that draws on the historical ties of the Lê (Li) dynasty, whose 13th‑century prince Yi Yong‑sang settled in the area and whose descendants remain in Bonghwa.
The visitors inspected local sites linked to the dynasty—such as Chung Hyodang and the planned K‑Vietnam Valley development area—and attended the 28th Bonghwa Eel Festival. Both sides discussed collaborative productions, such as theater performances, exhibitions and educational programmes, aiming to turn the Lê‑dynasty heritage into a cultural‑tourism hub that promotes deeper Korea‑Vietnam exchanges.
The initiative, part of the broader “K‑Vietnam Valley” project, envisions a historic park, a shared cultural‑exchange space and facilities for traditional‑culture experiences, positioning Bonghwa as an international centre for Korean‑Vietnamese cultural collaboration.
