Bonghwa County launches pet woodworking class for owners
Bonghwa County in North Gyeongsang Province opened a new "Pet Woodworking Class" at the Bonghwa Woodworking Cultural Experience Center on July 7. The program lets pet owners craft wooden accessories for dogs and cats, offering six items: pet collars, pet‑bowl stands, scratchers, cat houses, dog houses and cat towers. Sessions range from one hour for simple items to four‑hour courses for larger projects, with material costs plus a 2,000‑won workshop fee. Classes run daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed on Mondays) and require advance phone reservation.
The initiative aims to draw visitors, expand the center’s use beyond basic crafts, and boost the local wood‑culture economy. A county official said, "We hope making wooden pet items helps families create memories with their pets and brings the community closer to wood culture."
